Dr. Richard Dalyai

Biography

A neurosurgeon devoted to the brain’s vascular system

Dr. Richard Dalyai is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vascular neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of cerebrovascular disease — conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine. He treats vascular neurosurgical disorders in both children and adults, with particular expertise in cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and dural arteriovenous fistulas.

He uses both endovascular (minimally invasive, catheter-based) and open microsurgical techniques, choosing the approach best suited to each patient and each condition. His practice also includes carotid artery stenting and endarterectomy, acute stroke intervention, and the surgical treatment of spinal conditions such as disc herniations, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis.

As Director of Vascular Neurosciences and Surgical Director of Stroke for ECU Health, Dr. Dalyai leads a comprehensive stroke and neurovascular program and is deeply committed to raising awareness about stroke symptoms and the importance of seeking care quickly — because when it comes to the brain, time is everything.
